Titles we fill
EHR or ERP Go-Live Support
A system go-live concentrates risk into a few days. After months of build, configuration and training, an electronic health record or enterprise resource planning system replaces a tool that employees knew by heart. For healthcare, clinicians face the new system with patients. For ERP, finance, procurement and warehouse teams face it with invoices, orders and shipments. The quality of the support surrounding cutover decides whether staff regain confidence or build workarounds that last for years. Buyers hire for this event in several layers: trainers before go-live, user acceptance testers in the final build stage, floor support during the first weeks, a service desk surge to handle calls, and later the permanent administrators who own the system.
Sequencing matters more than headcount. Testers are needed before cutover, trainers shortly before, floor and desk support at cutover and afterwards, and administrators from the start because they must learn the system as it is built. Many programs mistake the last group for an afterthought. We help buyers plan by phase, decide which roles are contract and which should become permanent, and understand module-specific limits. This page deals with the go-live program as a whole. For ongoing ownership after the event, see our guidance in the After Go-Live material, which covers the administrators who stay.
What we screen for
Testers and UAT
For user acceptance testers and coordinators we look for experience writing and executing test scripts, logging defects with clear reproduction steps, and working with business users. ISTQB Foundation is a useful baseline for testing discipline. Tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps or HP ALM style test management matter. We ask how they decide whether a defect blocks go-live, and how they communicate that to a business owner who wants to proceed.
Trainers
We look for trainers with vendor credentials for the platform and module, adult learning skill and evidence of delivering classes at scale. We ask for a short demonstration and review job aids they created. For healthcare programs, trainers should be able to teach clinical workflows rather than screens. For ERP, we look for experience teaching finance and supply chain processes, including month-end close and approvals.
Floor and desk support
Floor support analysts need module knowledge, calm and the ability to teach at someone's desk. Service desk surge staff need ticket discipline, familiarity with common post-go-live issues and the ability to route to application teams. We verify certification status, previous go-live experience and availability for the full window. Command center analysts are asked to explain how they spot patterns across sites and escalate.
Red flags
We are cautious about candidates who claim go-live experience but cannot name the module, wave or system, who are unavailable for part of the window, or who correct users in front of peers. Testers who only pass scripts and never explore edge cases miss defects that reach production. Administrators who join only after the system is live and have never seen the build struggle to understand design decisions.
Where we find them
Go-live talent travels in recognizable communities. Clinical and revenue cycle super users who became analysts, consultants who have supported multiple conversions, internal analysts from earlier implementations, corporate trainers with application experience and business analysts from finance and supply chain all feed these programs. Testers come from QA backgrounds and from business users who tested a previous release. Service desk surge staff come from healthcare and enterprise help desks.
We describe these communities by background type rather than naming employers. Because credentials may be tied to previous projects, we check current status before presenting someone. For permanent administrators, we look for people who have supported a system in production through at least one upgrade and who can join the project early to learn the build. We are frank about how scarce certified module resources can be and how that interacts with your wave schedule, which sometimes needs adjusting.
Roles this hiring situation feeds
How a EHR or ERP Go-Live Support search runs
We start with the program plan: platform, modules, sites, waves, cutover dates and what the vendor and your internal team are covering. We ask where you expect gaps. From that we build a staffing outline by phase and role. Candidates are verified for credentials and availability across the full window, and screened on the specific module and on floor or training skill. You receive notes by role, with credentials checked and noted separately.
We are direct about engagement. Go-live crews are contract or project engagements, recruited and scheduled together on request, scoped and priced per project, with travel terms agreed in writing. Permanent placement is the right path for the administrators and analysts who own the system afterwards. We make no promises about timing, and we say when a module or window leaves too little time to staff responsibly, rather than filling seats with people who are not ready.

Questions about this search
When will we see a shortlist?
We agree the search plan after checking your requirements for testers and uat and trainers, rather than promising a date before the brief is clear. For user acceptance testers and coordinators we look for experience writing and executing test scripts, logging defects with clear reproduction steps, and working with business users.
What if a candidate gets a counteroffer?
We ask what would make someone leave work involving testers and uat, and what could make them stay. Before you invest in interviews, we discuss whether your offer changes the problem they want to leave, including the responsibility for floor and desk support.
Should this role be remote or on site?
Experience with testers and uat and trainers does not settle the location question. Tell us what access and supervision the work needs, including who owns decisions about floor and desk support, so we approach people who can accept the arrangement.
How will you check fit before we interview?
For user acceptance testers and coordinators we look for experience writing and executing test scripts, logging defects with clear reproduction steps, and working with business users. ISTQB Foundation is a useful baseline for testing discipline. We look for trainers with vendor credentials for the platform and module, adult learning skill and evidence of delivering classes at scale.
How does the fee work?
No upfront fee. You pay only if you hire. Agree the fee and the responsibilities covering testers and uat and trainers in the recruiting agreement before the search proceeds.
What if the hire does not work out?
We offer a candidate replacement guarantee on standard search agreements. The applicable period and exact terms are set out in the signed client recruiting agreement. Make sure the agreed scope includes what you expect of floor and desk support, rather than leaving that discussion until after the start.
