Using this page for the next decision
The Technology Headhunters vacancy calculator shows the cost of an empty seat using the amounts you enter. It does not supply a revenue benchmark or guess what your business loses. Start with the work that is not getting done. Leave out a cost you cannot explain rather than making the result look more urgent.
The salary field is optional until you want to subtract the pay you are not spending. If you choose a BLS median, the occupation and area remain visible. That median is public wage data, not the salary your company has approved. Replace it with your own salary amount when you know the budget for this opening.
Cover costs are the amounts you pay because the seat is empty. Overtime and temporary cover can belong here, but avoid counting the same invoice in more than one field. Other cover costs need a clear reason. Work already included in the lost-value amount should not be added again under a different name.
Lost value is a separate input. For technology work, you can describe a delayed project and enter the value per week you assign to that delay. The tool cannot establish that value for you. A delay may have no current financial effect, or the effect may depend on a decision outside this team's control. Your inputs should reflect that uncertainty.
The calculator subtracts unpaid salary when that option is on. This prevents an empty seat from appearing to cost money that you are actually saving. If the net result is zero or negative, the result says so. Expected weeks are your planning input, not a recruiting timeline we promise. An optional fee percentage is also your entry, not our quoted terms. Use the breakdown to check the assumptions before sharing the result or starting a search. The fee page explains our engagement without turning this calculation into a price list.
